General information

1-1 Joining COS

1-1.1 Drivers looking to join the league must sign up in the dedicated channels before being placed into a tier suiting their skill level.
1-1.2 New drivers (joining mid-season) will be placed in a specific tier based on their pace test before they are allowed to race*.
* Incase no fulltime seats are available then they will be placed in the reserve pool for that specific tier.

1-2 Leaving COS before end of season

1-2.1 Leaving the league mid-season without an adequate explanation will result in a ban that will last until the end of the next season.

1-3 Promotion/Demotion

1-3.1 COS admins hold the right to re-shuffle tiers in accordance to speed if they deem necessary during any part of the season. This will always be done in the best interest of both the league and driver.
1-3.2 Drivers who are promoted/demoted will carry their penalty points they have attained until the end of the season.

1-4 Classification/Points System

1-4.1 All drivers who completed 90% of the total race distance will be classified.
1-4.2 A driver who disconnected after covering 90% of the race distance will be classified where their AI finished.
1-4.3 Point system is as follows:

    • 1st – 25 pts;
    • 2nd – 18 pts;
    • 3rd – 15 pts;
    • 4th – 12 pts;
    • 5th – 10 pts;
    • 6th – 8 pts;
    • 7th – 6 pts;
    • 8th – 4 pts;
    • 9th – 2 pts;
    • 10th – 1 pt.

1-4.4 The driver who sets the fastest lap will be awarded an extra point if classified inside the top ten.

1-5 Teams

1-5.1 A team will consist of 2 drivers.
1-5.2 If a driver pulls out of the championship a new driver will take their seat. They will start the season on 0 points in the drivers championship, however the constructor points from the previous driver will carry over.
1-5.3 We will be using the 2023 Formula One Team cars for Season 13.

1-6 Teammate/Car Selection

1-6.1 Following the evaluation pace test admins will release a placement list for each tier.
1-6.2 Once the list has been created, drivers will be able to pick teammates using the following priority system.

    • Returning drivers based on previous season’s championship.
      (Example: AM1 Champion is 1st, last in AM3 is 60th. Returning drivers will pick in this order).
    • Once all returning fulltime drivers have chosen, returning reserve drivers get the next pick, with the order based on their pace time.
    • Finally, new drivers get next pick with the order based on their pace time.

1-7 Reserving

1-7.1  Only fulltime drivers can reserve in the tier directly above. (Cross continent reserving is not allowed).
1-7.2 Tier reserves are limited to just their respected tier.
1-7.3 Drivers cannot reserve for a tier that is 2 or more tiers above their driver status regardless of pace and/or lack of attendees.
1-7.4
Drivers cannot reserve for tier(s) below regardless of pace and/or lack of attendees.
1-7.5
 Reserves are based off a first come first serve basis meaning the quicker you react to the reserve bot in the attendance channel the better chance you have to race.
1-7.6 Reserve drivers will have 1 hours notice if they are allocated a seat. ( Tier representatives will allocate a car ).
1-7.7 Reserve drivers who don’t show up will not have preference for the following race, this is because by not racing reserves behind them will miss the chance to race as a result.
1-7.8 If a fulltime driver decides to leave their seat then a reserve will be asked to fill that spot, tier representatives will base this on commitment levels shown in previous weeks.
1-7.9 Points scored by reserves will only count towards the constructors’ standings. ( Reserve points will count to whichever team they represent on the night of the race )
1-7.10 After a reserve driver promotes to a full time seat, his previous earned points (as a reserve) will count in the drivers standings.
1-7.10.1 Previous scored constructor points will stay with the team the driver scored the points for.
1-7.11 Order of how reserves are chosen:

    • Tier reserves;
    • Reserves from tier below.

1-8 Champions

1-8.1 The driver/team that accumulates the most points over the season is declared Champion.

1-9 Dead Heat

If two or more constructors/drivers finish the Championship with the same number of points, the higher place in the Championship (in either case) shall be awarded to:
1-9.1 The holder of the greatest number of first places.
1-9.2 If the number of first places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of second places.
1-9.3 If the number of second places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of third places in a race and so on until a winner emerges.
1-9.4 If this procedure fails to produce a result then the championship will be decided by the most amount of fastest laps, if this amount is equal it will be decided by who set the fastest lap earliest in the season.

1-10 Gamertag Change

1-10.1 Drivers are allowed to change their Gamertag.
1-10.2 Drivers MUST make the COS Staff aware of their gamertag change by writing a message in the designated discord channel using the template given.

1-11 Recording

1-11.1 Drivers are required to record their qualifying and race in case incidents were to happen.
1-11.2 Drivers should NOT delete there footage until the stewards reviews have been posted.
1-11.3 COS stream footage can only be used as additional evidence.
1-11.4 For the purposes of stewarding, all platforms that do not require a login are deemed acceptable, pending viewership of clips are public. The file provided can either be clipped or timestamped in the case of a full stream upon posting the incident to allow the stewards. To quickly access the correct position of the footage

1-12 Streaming

1-12.1 Streaming is permitted to anyone who is racing.
1-12.2 Drivers should only stream if their internet allows them to. If an incident was to be caused by a driver’s lag, this driver will be deemed responsible and may result in post race penalty.
1-12.3 All commentated races will be streamed live on Twitch, videos will then be uploaded to Contest of Speed.

1-13 Race Check In

1-13.1 Attendance for the next race will always be out at 11pm after the race you have just completed.
1-13.2 The deadline for each division to check-in is 1 hour prior to qualifying starting.
1-13.3 If you check-in after the required time you will not get to race.
1-13.4a If a driver is unable to race, it is their responsibility to BOTH decline the attendance and notify their tier representative.
1-13.4b
Drivers who have accepted the attendance and no-show will be awarded an attendance reprimand.
1-13.4c
Drivers who fail to accept or decline attendance will be considered declined and be awarded an attendance reprimand.
1-13.5 If you haven’t checked in by the required time to say you are racing and someone sends you an invite to the lobby DO NOT JOIN. Failure to follow this may result in removal from league.
1-13.6 If you check in to say you will race and then not show you will receive an attendance reprimand.
1-13.7 If you fail to respond to check-in, we will assume you are not racing and open up your spot to reserves, you will also receive an attendance reprimand.

1-14 Missing Races

1-14.1 If you get marked for an uninformed absence you will be given a reprimand. As per the reprimand system, accumulating 3 attendance reprimands could see you removed from the league. However 3 consecutive missed races COULD result in demotion to reserve.
1-14.2 Getting another driver to race under your name is also prohibited and will result in league removal.
1-14.3 We acknowledge that life gets in the way of racing, however we expect commitment from each driver. All FULLTIME drivers are expected to attend at least 75% of the calendar season.
1-14.4 Tier representatives/Admins reserve the right to remove/reduce drivers involvement in the league should attendance be poor.
